St. Louis style ribs are traditional spare ribs with the breastbone cut off and the ribs in a rectangular shape. You can choose to either bake or grill these for perfectly tender, falling-off-the-bone ribs. However, I’m going to share my favorite oven version by Delish’s Makinze Gore below.

Ingredients:

· 3 lb. spareribs

· 2 tbsp. brown sugar

· 2 tsp. kosher salt

· 1 tsp. garlic powder

· 1 tsp. onion powder

· 1 tsp. oregano

· ½ tsp. freshly ground black pepper

· ½ tsp. chili powder

· ½ tsp. mustard powder

· ¼ tsp. cayenne pepper

· 4 tbsp. butter, cut into cubes

· 1 c. BBQ sauce

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Line baking sheet with aluminum foil.

3. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and seasonings. Rub mixture on ribs until well coated.

4. Evenly distribute butter cubes over ribs, wrap tightly in foil, and place on prepared baking sheet.

5. Bake until tender, 2 and a half hours.

6. Switch over to broil, unwrap ribs, brush BBQ sauce all over, place back onto the baking sheet. Broil until sauce starts to caramelize, about 5 minutes.

If you give this recipe a try, send me a photo and let me know what you thought! If cooking isn’t your thing, give Pappy’s Smokehouse a try. Pappy’s is my favorite spot to get good barbecue in St. Louis. The restaurant is famous for selling tons of ribs per day and always having a long line inside. However, they close when the ribs run out, so you might want to get there early!
